Tactical Medical - Saturday, August 20 9am-5pm
This one-day course is taught by a medical doctor associated with SBSO Rescue and a Fire Department Paramedic/SWAT Team member to cover basic medical situations (life saving, gunshot, and traumatic injuries) until advanced life saving technicians can arrive on the scene. This course will enhance the performance of EMTs, First Responders, and on scene participants. The lessons are derived from paramedic street applications and lessons learned from U.S. Military Combat Operations. The instructors are recognized experts are and participants at the highest level of U.S. Military and civilian tactical emergency causality care. This course is designed for the tactical operator, medical practitioner, or consciences citizen. This course will walk you through the most basic of tactical medical care concepts and will culminate with the student demonstrating proficiency in those skills. Whether you are a mom driving the car pool, a parent at your child's soccer game, hunter, or shooting enthusiast, you will benefit from learning these life saving medical skills.
Carbine Night Operations- Saturday, August 20
This course teaches the student to effectively utilize a carbine in low light conditions, and incorporates the tactical use of a flashlight and other lighting methods. The night shoot teaches various target identification and sighting techniques specific to limited visibility. The student reinforces the day class instruction and learns additional skills while under the cover of darkness. Previous Carbine training is required. Upon completion of the course, the student should be proficient with use of weapon in low light and night with movement, ammunition management, precision shooting at night from various distances, weapon Retention, close quarters conflict, transition Drills (pistol to carbine, carbine to pistol), house clearing techniques, and NightVision/ I.R. sighting devices.
AHA First Aid, CPR, & AED- Sunday, August 21 9am-3pm
This course follows the American Heart Association (AHA) curriculum and is instructed by AHA Certified Instructors. The AHA Heartsaver First Aid With CPR & AED Course is designed to provide non-healthcare professionals the training needed to recognize and provide high quality CPR, proficiently use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), and render first aid in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be issued an American Heart Association (AHA) 2 Year Certification.
Shotgun Night Operations- Sunday, August 21 3pm-10pm
This course teaches the student to effectively utilize a shotgun in low light conditions, and incorporates the tactical use of a flashlight and other lighting methods. The night shoot teaches various target identification and sighting techniques specific to limited visibility. The student reinforces the day class instruction and learns additional skills while under the cover of darkness. Previous Shotgun training is required. Upon completion of the course, the student should be proficient with fundamentals of shooting a shotgun, patterning, zones of fire, indoor and outdoor, firing positions, shooting from a barricade, sling use, mounted from a slung position, use of weapon in low light and night environments with movement, ammunition management, weapon Retention, close quarters conflict, transition Drills (pistol to shotgun, shotgun to pistol), and utilizing night vision.
Advanced Tactical Medical- August 27-28 9am-5pm
The two day Tactical EMS course will build on the one day course. A brief review will start the day off and lead directly into brief exercises and culminate with small group tactics and medical applications applying what has been learned from day one. If you are squeamish, be prepared as the scenarios will be messy. Bring a set of clothes that you don't mind ruining, but can also operate in. Also, the moulage [simulated injuries] will be prepared by an expert in Hollywood FX.
We will learn to deal with traumatic injuries when professional medical assistance is not immediately available. This course will further broaden the student's medical skill sets and orient the student to small team medical tactics such as those practiced by today's SWAT Team Medical Operators. This is valuable knowledge that will enhance the security of your family and work place in all situations and activities.
