This Tactical Trauma Training course is designed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skillset to effectively manage traumatic injuries, with a specific focus on tourniquet application and the control of severe bleeding caused by the gunshot wound. This comprehensive course combines theoretical knowledge, practical demonstrations, and hands-on practical exercises to ensure participants develop a thorough understanding of the principles, equipment, and techniques required to endure in tactical trauma situations. The course is taught by Jeffrey Barkey, MD, an accomplished board certified primary care physician in Newport Beach, with over 25 years experience. Dr. Barke is a commissioned officer in the US Army Reserve Medical Corps, a reserve deputy, a tactical physician (SWAT surgeon) for a local L.E. SWAT team, and co-hosts the fantastic Informed Dissent podcast ( www.informeddissentmedia.com ).

Upon completion of this course, the student should be proficient with:

  • Introduction to Tactical Trauma Management
  • Anatomy and Physiology of Hemorrhage
  • Tourniquet principles and selection
  • Tourniquet application techniques
  • Bleeding control adjuncts (Quick clot, wound packing, etc.)
  • Monitoring and reassessment of tourniquet/adjunct applications
  • Practical demonstrations and exercises to stop blood flow in tactical trauma scenarios
  • Post Trauma Care and Followup
