Special Guest Instructor: Sensei Trent Zappen

Sensei Trent has 25 years of martial arts experience and is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Shaolin Kempo with additional training in Wushu, Jiu Jitsu, and also specializes in Women's Self Defense. Sensei Trent was honored to receive Instructor Of The Year in 2013 as well as receive the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame School of the Year Award in 2015.

Course Information

This course has been designed for the individual that wishes to obtain the knowledge and ability to protect their self against an attacker with an edged weapon. The key to personal defense against an edged weapon attack is to understand the fundamentals of using a knife.  Our Edged Weapons course is of great value to civilians; the skills and techniques used in this course are currently being taught to military Special Forces.

Students Will Learn:

  • Engagement Mindset
  • Understanding the knife
  • Managing Tactical Distance and Relationship
  • Defensive and Offensive use of the knife
  • How angles and footwork effect your knife defense
  • How the "stick or club" relates to the knife
  • How to apply stick and knife techniques to empty hand situations

Equipment:

  • Sack lunch
  • Comfortable, easy to move around in clothing (ie sweat or yoga pants, workout clothing)
